Another great week of Grand Rounds! We started with optimizing our wet reads on MSK xrays then moved into a victorious CPC win in the diagnosis of giant cell artertitis with a patient presenting with CN VI palsy and diplopia. We then discussed the tips and tricks for hernia reduction before hearing a moving story of a harrowing AirCare transport for ECMO cannulation. We moved into R3 small groups covering obstetrics and labor from mother to newborn and finished off with our pediatrics team visiting to discuss emergent cardiac conditions.

Join us as we recap our last week of Grand Rounds, including our first intern lecture of the year focusing on pericarditis & myocarditis. Learn about the art of skillfully resuscitating a patient with an LVAD, as well as the tips/tricks for effectively communicating with patients, from our senior residents. Learn how to confidently handle ENT emergencies in the community and orthopedic trauma in a limited-resource settings. Our pharmacy colleagues gave us an timely update on use of Precedex in the ED, as well as Andexxa vs. PCC for reversal of Xa-inhibitors. Lastly, our pediatric EM colleagues joined us to discuss to subtle difference in diagnosis and management of neonatal & pediatric seizures compared to adults.

This week, Dr. Grosso led us through some fascinating case review during M&M. We had a fantastic, practical review of minor-care related hand complaints led by our R3s Drs. Teuber, Gorder and Plash. We learned about injury management in resource-limited settings during Global Health Grand Rounds with Drs. Roche, Lagasse, Teuber. Dr. Soria and Dr. Riddle gave us their R2 and R4 case follow-ups, respectively.
