Grand Rounds Recap 4.24.24
We started off this Wednesday with the crowd favorite M&M by Dr. Kletsel covering fantastic learning cases. This was followed by an expert discussion of neuromuscular weakness by Dr. Onuzuruike, and a quick hit EKG lecture by Dr. Urbanowicz on EKG artifacts. We wrapped up this day of discussion with our social emergency medicine grand rounds and our quarterly Landmark Studies of EM focusing on critical care.

We start off the day with our quarterly Airway Grand Rounds, where Dr. Carleton discussed the intricacies of performing an awake look intubation. We then transitioned into a brief operations update on the department, followed by a great discussion regarding heavy metal toxicity with Dr. Boyer during his R1 Clinical Knowledge lecture. We were then honored to host Dr. Curran, an associate professor in the Division of Hematology Oncology and specialist in acute hematologic malignancies, for our consultant corner where we discussed acute leukemia. Finally, we wrapped up the day with combined grand rounds with our pediatric colleagues where we practiced a case of DKA during simulation as well as discussed pediatric EKGS and airways. Lots to learn this Wednesday!
Grand Rounds Recap 9.13.23
Join us to recap another week of UCEM Grand Rounds! We start with a quick hits EKG lecture with Dr. Baez, focusing on common EKG findings associated with electrolyte abnormalities. Dr. Tillotson teaches us how to set up inhaled therapies for our critically-ill patients, while thousands of feet in the air! We then turn to Dr. Chang and learn how to expertly treat pain and perform procedural sedation on the smallest of patients we encounter as emergency physicians.
