Grand Rounds Recap 6.21.23
This week’s grand rounds starts off strong with the last Morbidity and Mortality of the year presented by Dr. Zalesky. This included multiple stimulating cases including meningitis, procedural safety, acute aortic syndromes, hemophilia, electrical storm, and euglycemic DKA. Finally, we wrap up the day with a lecture on the science behind wellness with Dr. Martella.
Grand Rounds Recap 2.9.22
It was another riveting week of Grand Rounds here in Cincinnati! Drs. Kate Connelly, Shawn Hassani, Allie Hunt and Eddie Irankunda kicked us off with a high stakes simulation case and discussion of aortic and vascular emergencies. Dr. Irankunda then reflected on his journey through residency via the filter of the 1990's classic TV show, ER, with many life lessons along the way. After a brief operations update with Dr. Fermann, we finished up with a case-based discussion of evaluation of vomiting in pediatric patients during our monthly combined conference with our PEM colleagues from Cincinnati Children’s Hospital.

Dr. Jordan Bonomo started us off with a fascinating talk on brain death, and how therapeutic hypothermia in the post-arrest patient can make this diagnosis more challenging. Next up, Dr. Harrison taught us some pearls on management of the bradycardic peri-arrest patient. Dr. Nagle shared with a us how to rescuscitate a patient with acute aortic dissection. Lastly, Dr. Summers talked to us about PRES and how to recognize and treat this rare disorder.
