Tanzania
Since 2013, UCEM Residents have traveled to Shirati, Tanzania with Village Life Outreach Project (VLOP) participating in mobile field clinics, working at Roche Health Center, and working along side medical staff at Shirati District Hospital.
Guatemala
Beginning in Spring of 2017, UCEM will begin to partner with Dr. Christy O'Dea, Family Medicine faculty at UCMC, to bring residents and faculty to the Western highlands of Guatemala.
Village life Outreach Project
Founded in 2004 by Dr. Chris Lewis, Family Medicine faculty at UCMC, Village Life Outreach Project, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose work focuses on three remote and impoverished villages in the Rorya district of Tanzania, East Africa.
Maya Health Alliance
The Maya Health Alliance, a non-governmental organization founded in 2007, is located in the Western highlands of Guatemala and partners with UCMC Department of Family Medicine to bring quality health care to indigenous communities in Guatemala.
